VIDA is customised to customer requirements and data ecosystems. Our process is interactive, transparent and flexible. This process allows our customers to engage with and shape our analysis throughout the process.

Data collection

Our repository of public and partner data sources is large and constantly growing.

VIDA uses satellite imagery, a rapidly expanding, high-quality source of standardized data for information about individual villages and their local context. High-resolution imagery allows us to zoom into villages and assess them at the individual household level. It is complemented with quality-checked and cross-referenced, on-ground (customer, industry landscape, telecoms or survey) data.

Data analysis and user-specific modelling

Our unit of analysis is a village.

To distil insightful information for specific users from large amounts of data and different datasets, VIDA automates data-analytical tasks, such as recognizing patterns from satellite imagery. This makes the process much faster and cheaper. We build on our team’s deep experience in African and Asian frontier markets, as well as on collaborations with local companies and institutions, to build industry-specific models that translate data into user-specific, relevant insights for decision-making.

Ranking

VIDA provides village level profiles with socio-economic predictions to prioritise efforts.

The VIDA analysis helps users make better decisions by bringing the analysis together in a user-specific format as a ranking, typically of villages (e.g. highest viability gap, most attractive site, promising sales region). VIDA provides relevant demographic, topographic, agricultural and socio-economic input parameters for each village.

Visualization

VIDA presents the findings in an interactive “smart map”.

The user interface can be adjusted to different user types and requirements. It can be accessed via mobile by regional and in-field sales and operations teams. VIDA can be kept up to date by integrating new data sources in an ongoing manner as they become available.
